Hein Van de Geyn enjoyed a remarkable journey as a jazz double bassist, with playing, teaching, composing, and producing at the heart of his career of 45-years. In 2001, whilst on a 6 month sabbatical in South Africa, he started writing his magnum opus - Comprehensive Bass Method - finishing it in 2006, The method spans 950 pages across two hefty volumes. These books have since become staples in university libraries and can be found on the music stands of bassists worldwide.

Relocating to South Africa in 2010 marked the conclusion of Hein's extensive touring and from 2015 onward, he has dedicated himself to crafting educational books covering various double bass and broader musical topics.

 

Baseline Publishing now offers these works online, with Comprehensive Bass Method and Twelve Jazz Etudes (including a CD) being shipped from The Netherlands to enthusiasts globally.
